the

most

beautiful

thing

UPSTREAM

HOUSTON

The most beautiful thing I saw tonight

was a long-legged s/he rollerblading upstream Houston

I walked towards East River

Trailing half a block behind heris blue-jeaned silhouette

You lead, I’ll follow

Towards the same water

12:39

O

Ooo

Oo

O

Oo

O

Ooo o

I was half hoping

the snakes who dared face s/he

resided far enough Away

I was half hoping

They’d forever face red lights as s/he swam towards, Past

Away

Skating atop   water, Faithful

Atop    blue-white concrete, Glowing

Colour, indescribable

Belief, unimaginable

Sixteen seconds

It lasted

I feasted

my eyes off blue-white screen

my eyes on heris blue-white body

rippling atop blue-white street

Into a life my own not at all

Into heris black-blue jeans

swimming towards anOther

Blue-White Sea, Unknown

Sixteen seconds

It lasted

til their red light turned green

and our light flashed red

Blue-white still breathing

Sinking, in/visible, felt

S/he bladed to the pavement, the one destined for mankind

The one specially made for those merely strolling

alongside the super-human

revving up the fast-lane

The one

I never left

The one

I strolled

I scrolled

Alongside

The one

My head

revving up the fast-lane

My body

strolling in the one specially made

you seem let down,

let down by me

somehow, somehow

am i moving too slow?

you lead

i’ll follow

I’ve

Never

Been Here

Before

but i recognize

the front

sliding doors

You return there

My eyes return here

I write

You swim

I scroll

We dream

I walk

Home

You swim

I stroll

We

Dream

We super-human

revving up the fast lane

We swim

revving up The Fast Lane

Upstream

We go

Home
